According to Brasscom, the technology sector is expected to create 797 thousand new jobs by 2025. What can you IT professional do to avoid being left out? Continue reading and find out in this post!
That the technology sector has been advancing at maximum speed is no secret to anyone, but how does this affect IT professionals? Well, although the projection by Brasscom (Association of Information and Communication Technology and Digital Technologies Companies) signals an increase in vacancies, it also indicates that there is a deficit of professionals, estimated at 532 thousand of these vacancies.
Several issues cause this lack in the sector, among them we can mention the Covid-19 pandemic, which further encouraged digital transformation. There is also the issue of “talent flight”, where many professionals migrate from local companies to work for companies abroad, in other words, competition that was already fierce has become even greater, borders no longer exist.
We observed that although the scenario is favorable for IT Professionals, it has also become more competitive and demanding. Developing skills and competencies is crucial to growing and even staying in your career. Let us now list some of them:
Ability to deal with people from the IT Professional
Astonished?! No, you didn’t read it wrong, that’s right. One of the great skills or soft skills for the IT professional of the future is knowing how to deal with people, because although the Tech area deals a lot with systems and machines, they are just tools.
We work with people, for people, so knowing how to work as a team is essential. Remember the American series The Big Bang Theory? No being the Sheldon of the group, socializing with your classmates is necessary.
But this ability does not come alone, it is a set of several others such as: empathy, ethics, leadership, conflict resolution, flexibility and emotional intelligence. We know that it is not an easy task, especially for people who are shy, however, it is possible through training, the important thing is to take the first step and persist, little by little the change will happen.
Question for self-analysis:
- How do I currently deal with my colleagues, friends and family?
- Is there something today that I want and can improve in my relationships?
- What action will I take to start putting this into practice from today?
Data analysis and interpretation
Anyone who works in the Tech area knows that the amount of data generated, collected and processed daily is huge. However, a good IT professional is aware that it is not enough to obtain data, you have to know how to analyze and interpret it, after all, knowledge is only power if you know how to use it, without use it is just information.
Currently, there are several tools on the market that help with data analysis and are well used by companies when creating strategies and obtaining insights, one of them is Power BI and Dynamics 365, which in each module provide various resources such as graphs, reports and AI itself, which also contributes a lot to the process.
Therefore, learning to use these tools is a differentiator for IT professionals. Microsoft provides free mini-courses called Training Days, which introductory explains how to use these resources. On YouTube there are also several free channels that teach lots of cool things.
The internet is full of good things, perhaps this is your first experience of analyzing data, filtering channels and websites that have content that is really relevant to your learning.
Question to reflect on:
- Which data analysis tool am I interested in learning?
- How much time and/or money am I willing to invest?
- What are the best websites, paid or free courses, that talk about the subject?
Data Security
We are aware of the news about data leaks in large companies, cyber attacks have grown enormously. This shows the importance of paying special attention to protective and preventive safety measures. No consumer wants to do business with a company that cannot protect their data.
And this issue goes far beyond the company’s image, it generates financial losses and even legal consequences. In 2020, Law No. 13,709/18, known as the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), came into force.
This Law aims to regulate conditions, limits on the use of information, obligations, transparency, rules and additional care related to the protection and sharing of information, but it is clear that data security goes far beyond the LGPD Law.
The area of data security is one of the niches in the Technology sector that is very promising. If there is a deficit in the IT sector, this shortage is even greater when it comes to qualified IT professionals in the security area, and this is a problem that affects all countries.
Microsoft created a training program, Conecta +, where several learning trails are provided free of charge, and there are security trails for those who want to deepen their knowledge on the subject. #FicaaDica
